It was a cold day when Jess Belle and Hayley Ellison met with photographer Jacks DeGi — the kind of cold that settles into your skin. But it didn’t take away from the joy of seeing each other again, of creating something together, of being in that shared moment.
Together with stylist Joyce Yura and make-up artist Jessica Saint, the team set out to capture a rustic fall story. Something that feels close to nature, almost like being on a farm or somewhere out on the prairie. The surroundings are simple, the mood is honest, and everything feels a little more real.
“We wanted to create a rustic fall story, almost close to being on a farm or on the prairie. It was ice cold this day, we originally wanted to shoot before it got too cold, but we ended up having a ton of fun working together to craft this little story on film! We wanted to emulate those feelings of freedom and fun at any time, showing that it’s just best to be yourself and in the moment,” tells photographer Jacks DeGi. We love the sense of freedom running through the images — moments that don’t try too hard, that just exist as they are. A reminder that sometimes it’s enough to simply be present.
