Where Light Remains

Shakujii Park, with its two ponds and the last traces of Tokyo’s historic Musashino landscape, became the setting for photographer Daisuke Hamada‘s latest series featuring Moyuka Nakayama. Having recently moved from Kochi to Tokyo to begin her modeling career, Moyuka brought with her not only a fresh chapter but also a sense of home that occasionally surfaced through her Kochi dialect as the two wandered through the park.

“I wasn’t trying to create moments. I simply wanted to notice the ones that were already there.”
— Daisuke Hamada

Portraits are framed by glimpses of shimmering water, distant horizons, and passing clouds—small observations that become just as important as the person in front of the camera. They don’t interrupt the story but allow the viewer to experience the afternoon. “These photographs are less about describing a person than about capturing the feeling of a fleeting encounter shaped by light, nature, and conversation,” he tells us. Rather than relying on elaborate direction, Hamada follows what light leaves behind: reflections dancing across the surface of the pond, the changing sky, and a breeze moving through the trees.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
