Turkish photographer Meriç Tuna takes us to Durusu, a quiet, green corner in the north of Istanbul, where he spent a series of luminous summer days photographing Latvian beauty Eliza Zarina, represented by TANKS Management.
For Meriç, nature has always been closely connected to the way he sees and photographs the world. Open landscapes, wildflowers, coastlines and the changing light continually find their way into his work. “Nature has always held a central place in my life and visual language. It feels like an endless source of inspiration, an ever-changing space where new ideas continue to emerge.”
Recently, working with a small, stripped-back crew has become an important part of his creative process, allowing more room for freedom and spontaneity. And there is something of exactly that feeling in A Slow Burn Story: Eliza moving through the landscape, sometimes soft, sometimes intense, while the nature around her becomes part of the story rather than simply its backdrop. “For me, the freedom and spontaneity of working with a small crew have become an essential part of the creative process.” A summer story from the northern edges of Istanbul, shaped by movement, nature and the simple pleasure of creating together.
