Two Year Vacation’s “Majored In Broken Hearts” takes you on a bittersweet feel-good journey

The five-piece band Two Year Vacation describes itself as a “Swedish band making delicious pop music” and this description could not be summed up better. Coming from a country where you get less hours of sun compared to more Southern countries and therefore probably quite some melancholical moments are bound to occur. Packed in light-footed, airy sound, while the somehow rough vocals drives the songs catchy they definitely serve up a feel good slice of indie pop.

“I always love it when musicians play with genres and their voices.” A talk with Nalan

Nalan means something like “tear of emotion”. And indeed, the music of the singer and songwriter with Turkish roots has something incredibly gentle, sometimes melancholical deep. She already changed her artist name a few times, and is also known for projects such as slimgirl fat and part of the group Gaddafi Gals, but now will finally release her own debut album –  “I’m Good. The Crying Tape” – at the end of this year.

The question of happiness

Maybe to write about happiness is so stock already, that no one will read those lines. But maybe this is the perfect time now to write about something hopeful, something to calm down in the turbulent times we live in. Perhaps now more than ever, at least in the lifetime that I experienced, we are looking for this little sanctuary, a bubble to feel safe, where we wake up with a hearty smile on our lips.

Single Premiere – Geo Jordan ‘Let Go’

More empty space between us. 

I wonder how my life would be, if there was more empty space in it, more silence between us. I want back to this state of standing the empty space, the not needing to know all, not wanting to share all. And where all that we share is that very moment we have with each other.
