Bored of art galleries and fairs that leave no more room for real surprises? Then this might awaken your interest: “WE ARE THE GUYS is a new unity initiated by Walls Art-house and Qlick Editions, two progressive galleries from Amsterdam. Born from the vision that ‘unity is strength’, these galleries stand for a joint alliance believing that art should be accessible for a large audience. WE ARE THE GUYS stands for innovation, collaboration, sharing and joining forces. They seek for new alliances with the aim to change the current art scene.” Sander Dekker, co-owner of Walls gallery, tells us a bit more about the project: ”I’m getting a bit tired of all those pretentious galleries and nepotism within the art scene. So I thought unity-is-strength and started a search for those coole progressive galleries to form a unity. And I wanted to do something with that. An own magazine, 24H opening, art walks with live performance, guerrilla marketing, an own art fair, you name it. So I brought this concept to life, last week, kicking it off with 4 galleries. From tomorrow onwards we’re hosting an exciting photo exhibition right in front of the big whale ‘UNSEEN’. BAMMM! We call it ‘the Lodge’. The official meaning of the word is: ‘a house used as a temporary residence, as in the hunting season.’ So, the hunt is on ;)” So if you are around in Amsterdam tomorrow check out their Lodge event!
