Floyd Zion bends genre on bouncy new single “Belly”

Floyd Zion is looking forward.

The LA-based indie rocker is back with his new single “Belly”. A short but exhilarating emo pop jaunt, it’s about feeling “stuck” as Zion says himself – in a relationship, in a job, in a “reality (he) didn’t want to live in.” The first in a collection of songs he’s dubbing, perhaps with tongue slightly in cheek, Pink, “Belly” broods, yet bounces in step. Equally XXXTENTACION as it is Pete Yorn, it’s a refreshing blend of genre that wills forward the ethereality of rock ‘n’ roll in a fashion that feels apt for 2023.

“I wrote this song at a time in my life when I felt stuck. Stuck in my relationship, stuck with a job I didn’t want, stuck in a reality I didn’t want to live in. I wanted to put something on record that pushed back at the feeling of feeling stuck and complacent.”
