“The desire to escape the European winter and search for sunshine led me to Brazil — a country that has always fascinated me with its rich history, cultural heritage, music, architecture, and design. It also turned out to be a country full of incredibly warm and hospitable people. However, what truly inspired me to create this story was the island of Ilha Grande. This magical place is Brazil’s largest island and is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It was inaccessible to the public until the early 1990s due to the presence of a former prison, which allowed it to preserve its unspoiled, raw beauty.
Without roads or modern infrastructure, the island feels untouched by time. Dense rainforests cover the mountains, while secluded beaches and enormous boulders line the coast. The vibrant, natural contrasts and the island’s sense of isolation felt like a dream. It was a perfect balance of tranquility and adventure—an untouched sanctuary that, in a way, echoed the very essence of escape I was looking for. The island became my personal paradise, and the scenes I captured reflect the harmony between nature’s wild, untouched elements and the quiet stillness that fills the air there.”
