Fleur Shore is not someone you can easily put into a box. Even in her childhood days, she was the kind of person who simply did things differently. That somehow feels very familiar. For some people it just seems to be written into their path. And maybe also into the places and scenes they grow up in as artists.
After an unplanned pause, she is back – and properly so. Together with Finn UK she released the track Dark & Light. A groove-driven house cut built on warm basslines, finely textured percussion and subtle vocals that drift through the track with an effortless ease.
“Life is both light and dark – we have to surrender and embrace all things that are thrown at us.”
But the title already hints at something deeper. The song feels like a reminder that life is never just one thing – it moves between good and bad, between brightness and shadow, between ups and downs.
With the new single landing on her own label Undergrowth, the launch of her fashion project 4SURE and a big season ahead – including Ibiza dates at Amnesia, Pacha and ANTS – it feels like the start of an exciting new chapter.
We caught up with Fleur Shore to talk about risk, freedom, fashion and the special energy that happens when music, people and the dancefloor come together.

Fleur, nice having you for an interview! It’s been half a year since your last release — time moves so fast. (smiles) Dark & Light — what does that contrast mean to you, both creatively and personally?
Well, the last six months have been one of the darkest times of my personal life. It was difficult but also very beautiful, with lots of lessons to be learned throughout. This song was a reminder that life is both light and dark and we have to surrender and embrace all things that are thrown at us.
Six months without a release — does that feel like a long pause to you, or just part of your natural rhythm in a culture that constantly demands more?
To be honest it wasn’t an intentional pause, but I’m so glad it happened. It was all necessary for me to reset musically and to now pour my soul and emotion into my music.
Finn UK makes his first appearance on a dance release here. What drew you to his voice?
I mean, listen to his voice, that’s enough to draw you in. His voice is incredible and so unique.
We can definitely hear that. Your new single lands on your own label, Undergrowth — which feels like more than just a label, but a space with its own vision and community. What does releasing on your own platform give you that other labels couldn’t?
I feel like I can express myself a lot more with the music on my own label. Sometimes with labels your music has to fit into a box, which I understand, but I don’t want that box anymore. I want complete freedom and independence to release music.
You’re often described as an artist who isn’t afraid to take risks, whether in your DJ sets or your productions. Where does that boldness come from — and what does “taking risks” really look like for you in practice?
If we’re all doing the same thing then how can we stand out? I’ve always done things a little differently, even as a kid. It has always been part of me. I love to see a gap and go for it and approach things in a completely different way or find a way around things.

“Music and fashion are really the same thing — it’s all expression.”
Your first Ibiza dates this season — Amnesia, Pacha, ANTS — it sounds incredible. What does it feel like when you land on the island? There’s something truly special about Ibiza — can you put that feeling into words?
Anyone who lands on that island knows there’s such a special energy and feeling. It honestly can’t be explained. It’s a whole feeling within itself.
Ibiza crowds are really on another level (smiles) — intense, emotional, completely international. How do you stay connected to yourself in rooms that feel that big?
I focus on my body and the music. I love looking out to groups of people, people with their partners or on their own. There are so many beautiful moments of people hugging and kissing and it reminds me where I am and what I’m doing. It brings me completely back to my body.
4SURE launches alongside the single, and you’ve said that while music and personal style have always been forms of expression for you, something still felt missing. How important is fashion to you beyond your role as an artist?
Well art and creation are their own thing and music and fashion intertwine so deeply. It’s all the same thing really, it’s just expression.

“I am free. I get to do what I love every day and I never take it for granted.”
On Instagram, you share so many live moments from your sets. Is that exchange of energy with the crowd what you love most about what you do? (smiles)
Yes, like I said earlier that connection with the crowd is a feeling that can’t be matched. To see people smiling, dancing and having a moment is so special. It’s amazing to feel that energy back from the crowd.
You speak about freedom a lot. What does freedom actually look like in your daily life?
I am free. I get to do what I love every day and I never take it for granted. I am so grateful for this incredible opportunity.
When everything moves fast — touring Asia, summer in Ibiza, label showcases — how do you slow yourself down?
I meditate every day to bring myself back to me. It’s such an important thing to do in this industry because everything moves so fast and can feel chaotic. Connecting back to myself is really important.
Lastly — what feels most important to you right now?
My main focus now is to push the boundaries with my music and make the best music I’ve ever made. And with 4SURE to give it everything I have. I’ve been planting seeds in this industry for five years. Now is the time for them to flower.
