New Video: Dream Koala – Earth

Have you ever imagined what the end of the world will look like? Well, Yndi Ferreira aka Dream Koala has. The new video from the French/Brazilian electronic artist is an ode to nature and a criticism of the modern world drawing inspiration from science fiction and cosmic mysticism. It shows us a post-apocalyptic world, designed by Adrien Peze and Albin Merle from the CGI and visual effect studio Fabulous 3D, who Yndi already worked with for his first single Odyssey from the theme-based EP “Earth. Home. Destroyed” originally released last year.

“As a child I spent hours drawing fantastical creatures and impossible landscapes, my imagination was an endless playground where I loved losing myself. When I met Albin and Adrien, we immediately understood each other. With ‘Odyssey’ we wanted very contemplative and surrealistic images, whereas for ‘Earth’ we knew from the screenplay we had to add more dynamism, build a sort of blockbuster.”

It’s a tragic scenario they’re showing us but yet there’s a glimmer of hope laying in the warmth of Yndi Ferreiras voice and the rather melancholic than forlorn lyrics.

“What I wanted to illustrate through the words and the video is the fragility of the human race against the titanic forces of nature. Our anthropocentrism makes us forget that nature will eventually annihilate the men but that life always pave a path through the ages.”

Press play. Apocalypse now.

i love: summer, polaroids, red lipstick, japanese cuisine, my iPod, the sun, the sea, you. i listen to: everything that makes me smile and dance. always searching, wanting more, needing more… it’s a beautiful hunger. makes me happy: ice cream. makes me sad: winter. I spent most of my free time: reading, listening, talking, writing, loving, laughing, searching, being. 5 things I can’t live without: family, friends, music, books, chocolate.
