The Romance Of Nightlife

Capturing nightlife is the main focus of Montreal based photographer Karel Chladek. The moments when we enter a different world. When in the safety of the night we slip into a different role. Romance is sure to follow.

“Being a nightlife photographer can be just the opposite of romantic and sweet. For years now I’ve been obsessed by the culture of nightlife, not only for it’s personas and debauchery but also for its hidden instants. Points in time that seem so pure, where individuals are at their most vulnerable. This has driven me to focus a lot of my work towards capturing genuine, unstaged moments at night.

The romantic pattern started emerging in a lot of my art and suddenly it became a part of my night documenting routine. I was now always on the lookout for an honest flirt… to capture that is. Snapped in the last few months, this series is ironically called “No More I Love Yous”.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
